We use a range of accounting software and additional apps to not only benefit your business, but to ensure you are also complying with the new rules and regulations of Making Tax Digital.

Accounts

We have numerous clients, with numerous needs, utilising a range of accounting products. The basic way in which accounts are prepared for HMRC or VAT is a set procedure and for many clients their choice is either just down to personal preference or cost. Some just go with the software provided by their bank. That is fine for compliance reasons but we would say look beyond this and see what information or features could assist you, rather than just the government.

Considerations

As with all business tools, software changes and evolves over the years and sadly not always for the better. At the same time pricing changes and new products become available. What may have been the best solution, several years ago, may not be now.
We were using Quickbooks desktop software for over 20 years, as were the majority of our clients, until Quickbooks discontinued this. Quickbooks online did not do what we wanted and we therefore had to seek an alternative. We now use Zoho.
Around half of those on QB desktop switched to QB online.
The other half went with various providers such as Zoho, Sage, Xero, Freeagent etc.

These were clients that were experienced with the software that they were using and the features that were important to them. 
Consideration was given to:
1. Ease and speed of use.
2. Flexibility with branding and laying out invoices.
3. Being able to use the software on smart phones, ipads and so on with a dedicated app.
4. Integration to third party software.
5. Additional feautures such as scheduled invoicing, history, timelines, multicurrency and project management.
6. Security of data.
7. Overall value.
8. Industry specific requirements, such as CIS.
9. The ability to upgrade or add features as business grows or needs change.
